The Nitty Gritty Greenhouse

This blog is also about what is going on at the Nitty Gritty Greenhouse, my wee little greenhouse shop right here on the acreage.

A quirky, original place to shop for your organically grown edibles, plus the companion plants that bring in beneficial insects, too. Yes, that means flowers and herbs ; )

There are all kinds of workshops and seminars in spring, summer and fall. The teaching kind, about organic, sustainable kitchen gardening, and the fun planting ones, too. For more information about what's happening at the ngg, please check out the link HERE!

In the nursery, you will find organic edibles and ornamentals. Fruiting trees and flowering shrubs, 6 packs of veggie starts, and all kinds of companion plants.

Paul Robeson Heirloom Tomato

The heated greenhouse is my baby. Anything you find in there is organically grown by me, from scratch. Hundreds and hundreds of organic, heirloom tomato starter plants grace the wooden tables! This is my absolute favourite part of the whole business.

Hot and sweet peppers, eggplants, tomatillos, cukes, melons, and squash are all here, too. Anything heat loving that needs to stay warm till the May long weekend, is in the greenhouse.

The flowers at the Nitty Gritty are all bee-friendly!

Keeping it bee-friendly, organic, and local!

As I cannot possibly grow everything myself, I needed to find suppliers with the same standards that I have! Therefore, am so proud to support a couple of really, really great, local, mom-and-pop growers that believe in the same things that you and I do... organic and bee-happy plants.

They supply all the fantastic organic herbs, perennials, and neonic-free annual flowers for our baskets and gardens.

Open seasonally in spring and fall.
