STARTING FROM SEED

Want to start your own starter plants but don't know where, or how, to start?

Part 1. In the workshop, learn how to get started and go from seed to seedling to garden.

All about seeds... hybrids/heirlooms/open-pollinated/non-gmo. When to start what, hot weather versus cold weather, direct sowing and pre-starting.

How to pick the right soil, pots, seeds, sowing, lighting requirements, bottom heat, when to feed and with what, how to water, everything you need to know to take you confidently from seed to harvest.

Part 2. Play in the greenhouse. Choose from a wide variety of flower, herb and veggie seeds and then plant them up for a great selection of varieties/plants to take home. Go home with up to 24 plants.

Wanting to start planning out your garden for the upcoming year? Getting bogged down on details? Let's talk about raised beds, garden placement, layout, how to plan out, crop rotation, direct sowing, transplants, seed and crop rotation, cold weather and hot weather veggies, and what to plant when for the best results.

This has been the most popular workshop of all over the years. It has been offered as a one day workshop over the years, as well as spread out over the four seasons. I was asked to offer it again as a one day, so here we are...

Learn how to grow great organic food on your own plot, no matter how big or small the size.

This workshop will cover everything you need to know about how to plan, create, sow, plant, feed, water, and grow a thriving organic kitchen garden. Learn when to choose seeds, when transplants, what to grow in spring, summer, winter and fall.

ORGANIC KITCHEN GARDENING - 201

Have you taken part one on kitchen growing? This workshop goes more in depth on the details and how-to's.

Intermediate to advanced gardeners, but something for everyone! 

Dig deeper into organic gardening details. Best suited for gardeners with a season or two of growing under their belts, but everyone is welcome and will learn lots!

1. Planning your garden. All about plotting out your garden for the season, using companion planting, and crop rotation, too.  

2. All about your soil. Great soil is the key to your garden success. Learn about feeding your organic soil, no dig and no till gardening, building up healthy soil with organic amending.

3. Integrated pest control, mulching, being water wise, diy organic fertilisers, and so much more.

Is like the Gardening 101 course, but with more time spent in the actual garden, as long as it is not raining. Is more hands on for you visual learners.Fantastic workshop for new gardeners.

MORE INFORMATION

Workshops are held in the wee Garden Shop or in the greenhouse, depending on what we are doing. They are kept at small groups of 8 to 12 people, informal and lots of fun. You will leave here with all your questions answered, feeling confident in your newly learned knowledge.
